Took county roads to Lowville NY. 51 miles. Also were on state hwy 26 for a while and it is a busy hwy. The county roads were very nice - not much traffic and drivers were courteous. Hwy 26 had a wide shoulder and was smooth. We did have rain and a 8-15 mph headwind for much of the day. With the rain we are staying in a hotel tonight the Ridge View Lodge - it is great - especially for a local non chain hotel. Have done 3,164 miles and have about 550 miles to go with some steep hills coming. We had a few steeper hills today of 10-15% grade - no more of the western hills that had only a 6-8% grade.
